Networx3 signs up to Disability Confident employment scheme
Networx3 has become a Disability Confident employer – and the search is now on for their first disabled employee.
The blown fibre optic installation firm currently employs 19 staff at its Lancashire headquarters but is growing rapidly.
Networx3 founder and managing director Ian Ashworth has set the firm a target of employing at least one disabled person during the firm’s 2020 recruitment drive.
In a bid to achieve that goal the company has become a Disability Confident employer – which is a government campaign to encourage employers to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people.
Ian said: “We’re a really inclusive business and we’d really relish the chance to welcome disabled people into our team, whether they use a wheelchair, are autistic or have learning difficulties.
“In the past we’ve struggled to recruit a disabled employee because there was so little support available to our business to help us do that. We have a job for life and a career at Networx3 for someone who’s disabled – we just couldn’t find anyone.
“Our doors are wide open for a disabled employee and we’re determined that 2020 is the year we’re going to find the right disabled person to join us at Networx3.”
Networx3, which specialises in installing blown fibre optic communications infrastructure has grown into an industry-leading firm with clients including government departments, critical infrastructure sectors, mobile phone giants and renewable energy utility companies.
The firm is one of the biggest installers of blown fibre optic cable in the UK and in 2011 installed the biggest blown fibre optic cable network in Europe – in Manchester.
Networx3’s team includes certified drone pilots, engineers, ecologists and office staff who work from the firm’s wheelchair-accessible offices in Great Harwood, Blackburn.
Networx3 is one of 15,000 organisations across the UK that have signed up to the Disability Confident scheme.
Their Disability Confident Committed Employer status means that Networx3 have signed up to six pledges – such as offering an interview to a disabled person who meets the minimum criteria for the job – to help find the disabled employee that their business simply cannot do without.
Networx3 are currently recruiting for an administrative assistant and engineers, based at their Great Harwood office, with CV applications to caroline.earnshaw@networx3.co.uk.
